Piramal Pharma Solutions / PR Newswire

Piramal brings expanded sterile-product testing infrastructure online in Lexington

Piramal announced that its new Lexington microbiology laboratory entered routine GMP use on September 11, with the sterility suite subsequently conditionally approved. The lab expands testing space and adds a Grade A isolator intended to double sterility-testing capacity. It is an early component of an $85 million sterile-injectables expansion; the remaining manufacturing capacity is expected in late 2027.

Sensible secures a $47 million package to advance cell-based mRNA manufacturing

Sensible announced a $47 million financing package comprising an Oxford Science Enterprises-led Series A and up to $20 million in non-dilutive funding. Transaction adviser DLA Piper confirmed that proceeds will support VECTOR platform scale-up, AI-enabled sequence design, high-throughput screening, and clinical-grade manufacturing capabilities. The $47 million figure is not a disclosed equity-only round size.

Lipid-based mRNA chimeric antigen receptor T cells for enhanced <i>in vitro</i> antitumor activity

Screening eight ionizable lipids identified a lead formulation that delivered reporter RNA to several immune-cell types. Researchers then used it to engineer primary human T cells expressing a MUC1-directed CAR, with cytotoxic activity against antigen-positive tumor cells in vitro. Animal reporter experiments supported delivery feasibility, but the study does not demonstrate therapeutic CAR-T generation inside patients or animals.

Nurix Therapeutics

Gilead extends an oncology discovery program with Nurix for two years

Nurix and Gilead agreed to extend research on an undisclosed oncology program by another two years, marking the program’s second extension. Their collaboration uses E3 ligases to induce degradation of selected targets. Nurix retains options, subject to restrictions, to share development, commercialization, and profits and losses equally in the United States for up to two programs.

Hovione

Hovione commits $35 million to integrated U.S. continuous tableting

Hovione plans to install a $35 million ConsiGma CDC Flex line at its East Windsor, New Jersey, campus, with commissioning expected in late 2027. The system will link spray-dried amorphous solid dispersions to tablet production under one quality system. Planned continuous and batch modes span 1 to 200 kilograms per hour, with development possible using 1.5 kilograms.

Formulations at the Nanoscale: Multi-dimensional Electron Diffraction of Long-Acting Injectable, Cabotegravir

This study applied multidimensional electron diffraction to cabotegravir nanocrystals within a long-acting injectable formulation. 3D electron diffraction confirmed a structure consistent with the known X-ray model, while imaging and diffraction linked particle shape to crystal structure and revealed dislocations. The results describe nanoscale structural features that may guide formulation work; improved product performance was not demonstrated.

Biomay

Synthego and Biomay collaborate on mRNA and CRISPR manufacturing services

Synthego and Biomay announced a nonexclusive North American marketing and resale collaboration covering CRISPR components and manufacturing services. The offering combines Synthego guide RNA expertise with Biomay’s Cas9, mRNA manufacturing, LNP formulation, and aseptic fill-finish capabilities, including research and cGMP options. This is a commercial supply collaboration rather than a new factory opening or a new medicine approval.

Discovery of a Quinazoline-Based Nav1.7 Inhibitor with MicroED-Confirmed Absolute Configuration and Oral Efficacy in Rodent Models of Neuropathic Pain

A medicinal-chemistry study developed a chiral quinazoline-based Nav1.7 inhibitor and used MicroED to confirm the lead compound’s absolute configuration. The report combined structure–activity studies with pharmacokinetic and pain-model experiments in rodents. Its pharmaceutical relevance is the stereochemical assignment within a drug-discovery program; the animal findings do not establish analgesic efficacy or safety in patients.

Cyprumed

Delivery-platform reference: Cyprumed technology enters its first human trial with MSD

Cyprumed announced that MSD initiated a Phase 1 trial using its licensed oral tablet technology, triggering a milestone payment. The candidate and its structural class were undisclosed, so the program cannot be identified as a cyclic peptide. The earlier agreement’s potential $493 million comprises upfront and milestone payments, rather than cash already received. This is included as a delivery-platform reference.

Quantoom Biosciences

Indonesia’s Bio Farma selects Quantoom platform and completes initial RNA run

Bio Farma selected Quantoom’s Ntensify platform for Indonesian mRNA vaccine development and completed an initial RNA production run in Bandung using a rabies DNA template. Quantoom reported that the 200 mL in vitro transcription run met predefined criteria. CEPI partly supported platform installation. The milestone concerns manufacturing capability building, not demonstrated vaccine efficacy or authorization for commercial product release.

A review of analytical techniques for characterization of mRNA drug substance in therapeutics and their suitability as a multi-attribute method

This review evaluates electrophoresis, chromatography, sequencing, and mass spectrometry for measuring mRNA drug-substance identity, length, concentration, intactness, and purity. It compares throughput, sample preparation, and total analysis time while considering multi-attribute methods used for protein therapeutics. The authors identify opportunities for integrated mRNA analytics, rather than validating a universal platform that replaces all individual quality assays.

4basebio / GlobeNewswire

4basebio and TriLink partner on DNA and mRNA supply for cell therapy

4basebio announced clinical-grade enzymatic opDNA starting-material supply for an unnamed multinational pharmaceutical company’s cell therapy program. TriLink was selected as the mRNA development and manufacturing partner, using its CleanCap technology. The collaboration supports an upcoming Phase I program and illustrates coordination between DNA template and mRNA suppliers. The customer and financial terms were undisclosed; no clinical outcomes were reported.
